Promotion
The Essential Beatles was a budget release catalogued as part of EMI (Australia)'s 'TV' promotion series. Thus, upon release it was heavily promoted on TV, radio, and to a slightly lesser extent, print media. Shown below is: an example advertisement from print media; labels from the promotional 7" disc that contained 3 x 10 second, 3 x 15 second and 1 x 60 second radio commercials; and, audio of the 60 second commercial (narrated by Roger Climpson). The corresponding TV commercial features the same 60 second soundtrack, with footage of the band arriving in a plane, along with the text of song titles plus "The Essential Beatles $3.99 - EMI The greatest organisation in the world".
